The Heart Behind Palawi

Founded in 2001 under Prabha-Hira Pratishthan, Palawi is a care home for orphaned HIV+ children and a support center for HIV-affected individuals. Led by Mangalatai Shah, it extends dignity, nourishment, and love to those abandoned by society.

Currently, over 200 people are served every day, 6 days a week, with more than 70,000 meals served annually, all funded through community donations and volunteers. At just ₹35 per meal, you can help continue this mission. Contribute a meal, sponsor a day, or honor a loved one by feeding those in need — and be a part of something truly life-saving.

DETAILS

At the A.R.T. Center, Sub-District Hospital in Pandharpur, Palawi Shree Naivaidyam Seva runs a humble but powerful initiative. Every day, nutritious, freshly cooked food is served to HIV+ patients, pregnant mothers, and destitute individuals who come seeking life-saving ART treatment. For many, this is their only wholesome meal of the day — a plate filled not just with food, but with dignity, nutrition, and love.

Behind this seva stands 72-year-old Mangalatai Shah, the mother to 150 HIV+ orphaned children. Even today, she wakes up every morning to personally prepare warm khichdi and multi-ingredient soup with her own hands. Her service is not a duty — it’s a continuation of her lifelong devotion to care for those society has forgotten.

This initiative matters deeply. HIV+ patients and children often travel long distances, weak and without support — sometimes with an empty stomach — to receive their medication. Pregnant women and children undergoing ART treatment require proper nutrition to sustain the therapy. No one should have to fight for life on an empty stomach.

For over two decades, Mangalatai has rescued and raised hundreds of HIV+ children who were abandoned by society.

Your support will be of immense help to Mangalatai and her dedicated team, who leave no stone unturned to serve these children and patients in need. Every donation makes a difference.
