Palawi’s mission is to offer immediate and permanent care to women who have endured unspeakable hardships, including rape survivors, victims of domestic violence, single mothers, mentally challenged women, and elderly women abandoned by their families.
Through the Palawi Apna Ghar initiative, we strive to give these women—whom we lovingly call Mawulis—a safe, supportive home where they can heal, regain their dignity, and rediscover happiness. Since 2007, Palawi has successfully rehabilitated over 50 women into their families, and today, more than 25 Mawulis live with us, contributing to their new home as gardeners, kitchen helpers, watchwomen, and caretakers.
While Palawi’s Prabha Hira Pratishthan Trust owns a 20,000 sqft plot of land, we lack the funds to build a proper residence for these women. Our goal is to create a safe, secure facility that can house 100 women, providing them with the shelter and care they deserve.
Life on the streets is dangerous for women, especially the elderly and mentally ill, making rescue and rehabilitation efforts a critical need. Palawi Apna Ghar steps in to offer a safe haven, but the growing costs of shelter, medication, and ongoing care are straining our ability to continue this essential work.
We need your support to make this vision a reality. In Maharashtra alone, over 7 lakh women sought mental healthcare services in government centers (TNN, 2022).
Every small act counts and helps us continue our mission of love and support for the underserved.
